Aikido offers many benefits to newcomers, the most obvious is self defence. Aikido offers self-defence without the need of physical strength. In Aikido, you will learn to defend yourself without the need of excess strength. Your attackers movement will provide all the force you will need.

Aikido is a discipline

Studying Aikido makes you more aware of potential danger. Aikido can give you confidence and live your life in joy without resulting to violence. Learning a martial art is about discipline, it takes years and years to be very good at Aikido. If you are ever encountered in a situation, using a martial art is always the last resort. Self defence is minding your own business, staying out of trouble and avoiding conflict.

Aikido increases respect for others

Learning a martial art requires you to be safe and especially training with other people. When training we do techniques gently and never at full force. When you train with other people, you will gain self-confidence, make new friends and have respect for your body and other people.

Aikido helps you relax and removes stress and tension. If you are tense in Aikido you won't perform to your highest level. A tense attacker is easier to defeat than a relaxed attacker.
